Description

The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA), is a private, non-profit national organization dedicated to finding the cure for Crohn s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. CCFA sponsors basic and clinical research of the highest quality, offers a wide range of educational programs for patients and health care professionals, and provides supportive services to patients and family members.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Development Director carries full responsibility for the preparation of an overall fundraising plan that includes an array of fundraising strategies that generate revenue in support of CCFA s mission including, but not limited to: special events, major gifts and corporate/foundation giving. The Development Director works closely with the Chapter Director and board committees to develop the annual work plan and execute the activities that ensure the success of the chapter s fundraising initiatives in accordance with CCFA s policies and procedures.

REPORTS TO: Chapter Director

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Develop and implement a plan of work, based on specific income goals and timelines for the successful completion of overall revenue enhancement strategies.
* Take a lead role in planning, directing and implementing three signature special events that will raise at least $250,000 in 2012.
* Secure corporate sponsorship for the three signature special events; and assist in securing sponsorship for other chapter events.
* Assist in securing individual/foundation/corporate giving initiatives that reflect the interests of CCFA s constituencies in the local community.
* Recruit volunteer leaders and committee members to assist in implementing the development work plan. Serve as a consultant and resource to volunteers. Provide professional leadership in planning and implementing their tasks and/or responsibilities. Assure appropriate utilization of volunteer skills and resources and provide guidance in carrying out assignments and recognition for their time and effort.
* Prepare and manage budget (income and expenses) and work plan (with timeline and deliverables) for the successful completion of assigned fundraising event, programs and activities.
* Maintain accurate and complete records and files for fundraising events, programs and activities and routinely review the status of each with the Chapter Director.
* Conduct planning and evaluative meetings with the Chapter Director and assigned volunteers relative to each assigned fundraising event, program, and activity.
* Direct the cultivation, solicitation, follow-up and recognition process for individual, corporate and foundation participation and donations.
* Coordinate the production of all collateral materials related to fundraising events, programs and activities.
* Coordinate public relations and promotion for fundraising events, programs and activities.
* Participate in ongoing discussions with the Chapter Director with regard to current fundraising events and developing and implementing new initiatives.
* Perform all other duties and tasks required to support all new and/or proposed fundraising events, programs and activities.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

* Actively seek opportunities to address community needs and positively impact local regions while advancing CCFA s mission, goals and values.
* Keep abreast of National Headquarters activities and properly utilize the resources available.
* Be knowledgeable about Crohn s disease and ulcerative colitis and the foundation s strategic plan and operations.
* Assure the proper use, management, security and upkeep of CCFA facilities, equipment and documents.
* Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* College graduate or equivalent experience.
* Must be a local resident of the Farmington hill area.
* Minimum five to seven years in not-for-profit fundraising, preferably within a health-related organization.
* Demonstrated track record of successful fundraising experience that includes special events, corporate/foundation giving, donor cultivation and recognition, donor records and acknowledgement.
* Experience recruiting and managing volunteers
* Familiarity with major gift and annual giving campaigns.
* Proven and applicable skills in strategic planning and budgeting volunteer and staff development and supervision.
* Self-motivated, results oriented leader with strong organizational skills.
* An effective communicator, both written and oral. Marketing and public relations preferred.
* Proficiency in MS Office, Raiser s Edge a plus.
