JOB SUMMARY:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

Job Summary:

About the Position:

This program exposes high school and college students to the multiple engineering and technological possibilities that are critical to improve the effectiveness of the current force and realize the superior capability of the future force to facilitate Army transformation. Duties will be linked to project scope of work and applicant qualifications. Strong science, math and engineering background preferred.

Leave during this appointment for vacation time will be monitored on a case by case basis. Any excessive amounts could mean non-placement or termination from the program.

Currently enrolled high school and undergraduate students at least 16 years of age by 6/19/2012 who are willing to accept full time, temporary summer employment.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

DUTIES:

You will perform nonprofessional technical/scientific work requiring the application of a limited background of knowledge and/or equivalent basic undergraduate work in the methods, theory and practices of either electronic/electrical/mechanical /computer engineering, physics, mathematics, chemistry, or computer science. You will work with and assist engineers and scientists in performing a variety of technical and or computer support duties in a Research, Development, Engineering organization.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Minimum GPA is 3.0 for High School Students and 2.7 for College Students.

Selection criteria for GS-01 and GS-02 levels includes previous engineering related experience, amount/level of math and science courses successfully completed, grade point average, career goals and engineering related activities undertaken

GS-01: Applicants must be CURRENT HIGH SCHOOL students, and no prior experience is required.

GS-02: Applicants must be 2012 High School (or equivalent) graduates.

Selection criteria for GS-03 and GS-04 levels includes previous engineering related experiences, amount/level of engineering, math and science courses successfully completed, grade point average, career goals and engineering related activities undertaken.

GS-03: Six months of general experience, OR one year education above high school level with at least 6 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics, and be obtained from an accredited school, college, or university.

GS-04: Six months of general experience and six months of specialized experience directly related to this occupation OR two years of education above high school level with at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics, and be obtained from an accredited school, college, or university.

Other Requirements:

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.

Personnel security investigation required.

Direct Deposit of Pay is Required.

Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid experience or volunteer work.
