Jobing Description

This position will provide support for the day-to-day maintenance of Library operations and assist students in the Library. Under the direction of the Library Coordinator, this person will be responsible for assignments both in the Library and computer lab and will be cross-trained to assist the administrative office staff. These duties are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University's mission, vision and cultural values. Responsibilities: 1. Provide GREAT customer service to students, faculty, staff and visitors. Ensuring that everyone is greeted and assisted promptly with all functions at the main desk.
2. Assist with shelving library materials and maintaining organized library stacks.
3. Process and maintain reserve materials.
4. Participate with inventory process.
5. Assist with shelving library materials.
6. Assist with library, testing and tutoring support functions at the main desk.
7. Assist in gathering library statistics, as necessary.
8. Assist students with computer related questions and problems
9. Assist students with University coursework as needed - - assistance may include MS office software, MS windows questions, internet-related questions, and offering help with internet research project.
10. Maintain computer lab printers
11. Monitor computers to ensure that they are working properly and reporting any problems to staff in a timely manner.
12. Monitor students to ensure that rules and procedures are being followed.
13. Assist in media equipment management.
14. Provide instructional guidance for users of copy machine and other library equipment.
15. Serve as an advocate for the LIBRARY.
16. Assist with clerical office functions as needed.
17. Answer multi-line phone system and route calls appropriately.
18. Demonstrate and promote the University Cultural Values
19. Provide GREAT customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our customers.
20. Perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities continued:
Qualifications: 1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Must be enrolled in 6 credit hours and meeting the standards of academic progress.
3. Experience in related areas preferred, but not required
4. Strong customer service commitment.
5. Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively with computerized data systems (PC and mainframe).
6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment, spirit of cooperation and positive reactions to change and conflict resolution.
7. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both written and oral which transcend diverse audiences.
8. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and relate well to students, parents, faculty, staff, and others while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
9. Demonstrated motivational and problem solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of the University.

This position also requires you to be enrolled at least 1/2 time. (Six credits per semester for undergraduate, three credits per semester for graduate students)
Environmental Factors: Must be able to perform repetitive body mechanics, including but not limited to climbing stairs, standing, stretching, twisting, bending, crouching and kneeling

Use of personal computer and telephone (eye and hand strain)
Necessary Travel:
Occasional lifting: 26 - 50 lbs
