SUMMARY: Mortgage Sales Consultants play a key role in helping promote Credit Union ONE s real estate lending products as well as educating consumers and employees by providing technical and product expertise. Mortgage Sales Consultants place a special emphasis on outside, new member sales and cultivate long-term relationships for future business and referrals. This position involves a majority of outside sales.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Understand and confidently articulate Credit Union ONE s mortgage and home equity products to employees, members and potential members. Respond to referrals, inquiries and questions in a timely manner. Inform applicant of program criteria, closing costs and regulatory requirements. Stay current on loan origination system and other software needed to complete the loan origination process. A Mortgage Sales Consultant looks for opportunities inside and outside of the credit union to capture additional mortgage business.
Interview potential borrowers and assist them in determining their product needs. Complete or assist members with the loan application process. Discuss compliance and verification requirements with borrowers. Conduct closings for certain refinance and home equity transactions. Work in partnership with Member First Mortgage and processors in REL Department and stay in contact with borrower to expedite the process.
A successful Mortgage Sales Consultant works on building relationships beyond closing for future business and referrals.

Be active in community groups (Example: volunteer for different promotional PR events initiated by CUO marketing department.)
Hold mortgage related special events at branches
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor s degree or equivalent from four-year college or technical school; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Remains educated on regulatory requirements in relation to originating mortgage loans which includes ONE University annual Degree requirements. Maintains good standing with federal registration rules and regulations as determined by the Safe Act.
