Job Summary/Basic Function
Lake Superior State University seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor position in the School of Nursing to begin January 2012.
Responsibilities: The successful applicant will be responsible for providing didactic and clinical instruction including evaluation of nursing students. Professional and scholarly activities are expected, but quality undergraduate teaching is the primary responsibility. Additional responsibilities of the position include recruiting and advising students, marketing programs, course and program assessment, and university/community service. The successful candidate should enjoy working in faculty team and teaching settings. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications, expertise, and experience. Minimum Qualifications
Must be eligible for RN licensure to practice in Michigan and/or Ontario. A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is required. Consideration, for a temporary appointment, will be given to BSN applicants with considerable experience in clinical nursing.
Preferred Qualifications
Must be eligible for RN licensure to practice in Michigan and/or Ontario and possess a doctoral degree in nursing. Formal teaching experience with nursing students in both lecture and clinical settings. Current work experience in a nursing specialty area.
Physical Demands
Must have the physical and emotional reserves to work with undergraduate nursing students. Faculty must be able to perform physically (with or without reasonable accommodations) and safely in the clinical setting.
Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs, walk/stand 12 hour shifts, and use full sensory ability for patient assessment.
Special Instructions to Applicants
LSSU has several openings for part-time and full-time nursing faculty. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications will be considered for full-time employment. Others will be considered for part-time and one-year temporary appointments.
