Job Description

This Payroll Clerk position will provide financial and accounting support for a unionized Brake Manufacturing Plant located in Saginaw, MI. This position is primarily responsible for the following but not limited to:

* Process and prepares payroll for both hourly and salaried personnel.
* Updates payroll records by entering necessary changes including vacation accruals and bonus calculations.
* Prepares reports to compile data on union dues, employee deductions, over time, absenteeism and grievance settlements.
* Updates and maintains daily/monthly accounting journals and other records detailing financial business transactions.
* Responsible for SOX audits on payroll transactions.
* Assumes responsibility for effectively investigating, tracking and resolving any payroll/ accounting documentation problems and discrepancies.
* Maintain/updates necessary financial spreadsheets.
* Maintains regular contact with employees/departments to obtain and convey information and/or to correct problems.
* Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
* Maintains employee payroll operations by following policies and procedures.
* Provides any additional support to the Controller/Finance Manager.

Required Skills

This position requires 3-5 years of payroll and/or accounts receivable/payable experience, preferably in plant manufacturing environment. Prior experience with financial systems including: QAD, Hyperion, PeopleSoft and Excel. Strong analytical, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Thorough knowledge of accounting theories, practices, regulations and financial concepts.

Required Experience

Bachelor s Degree in Accounting/Finance is preferred, but not required.
