General Description

The Shipping Supervisor is responsible to develop and maintain the dependable delivery system of products to and from customers and vendors. The Shipping Supervisor is responsible to supervise the shipping department.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities:

Supervise Shipping Clerks to encourage maximum productivity

Determine shipping personnel levels to ensure workforce efficiency.

Negotiate with and execute contracts with freight carriers for efficient, cost-effective service.

Assist with carrier selection for Tubelite s transportation needs.

Manage and modify DFG routes for better efficiency.

Work with Production Schedulers and Shipping Clerks to coordinate outbound shipments.

Monitor shipment charges and payments for all inbound and outbound freight expenses.

Confirm outbound shipments from Linetec and outside fabricators.

Schedule return materials for and with Tubelite accounts.

File carrier loss and damage claims on behalf of Tubelite.

Assist Sales, Client Services and Finance Departments with freight issues.

Assist Reed City Extrusion Department with necessary shipments.

Responsible for the day-to-day compliance to established policies standards & procedures and verification that product being produced meets or exceeds the established product specifications on an on-going basis; ensure that all employees are trained to perform their duties in a safe and productive manner

Position Requirements:

2-3 years shipping or logistics experience.

3-5 years supervisory experience.

Strong knowledge of freight rate structures and carrier service constraints.

B.A. in Business, or similar.

Familiar with Lean manufacturing principals. Six Sigma certification preferred.

Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills.

Excellent teamwork skills.

Strong conflict management skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Competency in the use of Microsoft Office software.
