Position Title: LD/CI Special Education Teacher
Department: Special Education / Bay-Arenac Community High School

SUMMARY: Works collaboratively with LEAs and Bay-Arenac Community High School instructors to provide instruction to students with disabilities. Activities may include assessment, career development and planning, and attendance at IEP meetings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOther duties may be assigned.
Assists and supports teacher roles and responsibilities related to instruction of students with disabilities. Activities may include one on one, small groups, co-teaching, and consulting with the teacher on strategies to assure compliance with IEP goals, and ADA and Section 504 requirements.
Acts as a liaison between sending districts and Bay-Arenac Community High School to develop and implement a proactive plan for students with disabilities.
Where appropriate, attends IEP meetings for Bay-Arenac Community High School students with disabilities.
Develops and maintains a data and evaluation system to track student progress for special education and 504 students.
Monitors and maintain files on students with disabilities including transcripts, IEPs, assessments and progress reports.
Per a student?s IEP, assists Bay-Arenac Community High School teachers with implementation of accommodations and accompanying documentation for students with disabilities.
Provides student support specialist with professional development to assist with developing guided instructional strategies for students with disabilities.
Where appropriate, acts as a liaison between Bay-Arenac Community High School and the BAISD special education department.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Valid teaching certificate with an MA in Learning Disabilities and/or another endorsement with 3 years recent relevant experience working with Learning Disabled students. Demonstrated effective communication and leadership skills required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Driver?s License required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Demonstrated ability to read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations, write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, parents, students, staff, sending districts, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Demonstrated ability to apply mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on a student?s IEP, Career Center and sending school objectives, and the needs and abilities of students with disabilities. Demonstrated ability to use appropriate language and accompanying techniques with adolescents on one to one bases as well as in groups. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, parents, school officials, and staff.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to sit and talk or hear. Occasionally the employee will repeat the same hand, arm or finger motion many times. The employee must be able to attend meetings in the evening and at other locations. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
