JOB DUTIES: Seeking a Supplier Development Engineer for Detroit Headquarters facility located in Farmington Hills, MI. This position is responsible for pre-production and post-production supplier visits. This position will review manufacturing process and recommend improvements. This position will be responsible for design and execution of quality system audits and various product audits. This position reports up thru the Purchasing Organization and will also work with other departments to improve purchased components quality and reliability as well as cost reduction. This position will also work with a team of engineers to ensure that the proper parts are correct and on time. Position will track all build issues. Responsibilities include: 1. Lead Supplier Production Preparation Activity to track supplier production preparation and coordinate progress of supplier and relating department such as quality, engineering, production control to realize smooth launch. 2. Coordinate with quality and engineering to execute the elements of Advance Quality Planning including the following elements; Supplier meeting, Supplier process Sign off/Readiness review and approval of Supplier PPAP (SQAM requirements). 3. Visit suppliers to confirm existing manufacturing processes. Indicate and recommend improvements that could be incorporated to the process before the launch. 4. Visit suppliers just before launch, confirm the readiness of Off Tool/Off Process parts 5. Confirm the following production conditions; production capacity, quality, work instructions, quality instructions. 6. Visit suppliers after the launch. Confirm that supplier is following correct procedures in production 7. Monitor and track supplier performance. 8. Help suppliers on issues such as production problems and coordinate with design to accommodate production. 9. Give suggestions on Sourcing Decision from the point of view in supplier performance. Requirements Education: BS, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering Experience: 1. Minimum of 3 years of Quality Engineering exp. Manufacturing environment with Total Quality Management, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, DOE, and SPC 2. Ability to demonstrate solid skills in communication, interpersonal relations, and ability to inspire individuals to improve performance 3. Previous experience with Japanese supplier preferred. 4. Knowledge to read drawings, tolerances and dimensional data Other: This position will travel between 25-50% of the time.
